Officials conduct examinations for swastikings found on the Westfield School

Westfield, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – Last month, an investigation took place at Westfield Middle School after a student had found a swastika in his notebook. The examination is now closed after the school officers were able to identify the students and blame.

In January, the headmaster of the school sent a letter to the school community to inform everyone that a swastika was included in a student's notebook. The student then reported the drawing to the staff.

In addition, the school officers Western Mass News announced that swastikas were found on the chromebook of a student and on an eraser on the high school floor, which was also reported to the faculty.

After these anti -Semitic incidents, Jesse McMillan, director of Westfield Middle School, informed us that the school had worked closely with local Jewish organizations in order to include lessons about prejudices and Jewish history. McMillian said that a school -wide seminar was held at the beginning of this month to discuss these topics and to start the conversation about why these are not only in the Westfield Middle School, but everywhere. “The students were incredibly susceptible. They asked really sensible questions. They were definitely much more concerned about it when they left the auditorium and knew what was happening in our school and what effects it had, and since then we have had no incidents in our school, ”he said.

McMillan informed us that the seminar was only an introduction and discussions about these difficult topics in the classrooms are continued.

Tonight in Western Mass News at 10 p.m. on Fox 6 and Elf at 11 a.m. on ABC40 and CBS 3 you will learn how McMillan is honored by a local Jewish organization for his actions in dealing and awareness of this situation.
