Huntington, W.Va. (Wsaz) – Update 12:37 p.m. 16.01.2025

A man died after a persecution has led to shots, according to Huntington chief of police, Phil Watkins.

On Saturday evening, March 15, around 8:55 p.m., a police police officer from Huntington tried to run over a vehicle in the 22nd Street area and 5th Avenue, Watkins told WSAZ.

The suspicious vehicle fled to the east in the 5th Avenue and the officials. When the suspect crossed the bridge to Guyandotte, his vehicle hit an uninvolved driver and then continued on the 5th Avenue. The persecution ended in the 3300 block of the 5th Avenue, where the circumstances led to an official shot into the suspect's vehicle and hit the male driver, said Watkins.

The officials provided the driver of medical treatment until Cabell County Ems arrived and transported him to a local hospital, where Watkins said that the suspect had died of the consequences of his injuries.

There were no other inmates in the suspect's vehicle, and no civil servants were injured during the incident.
