Opioid Response Team closes the Colorado Springs fire department

A new team with the Colorado Springs fire brigade helps to satisfy the needs of people who deal with opioid dependency.

The team, which is referred to as a targeted opioid reaction and medication-assisted treatment team or the TOR MAT team, is financed for one year by opioid settlement money. It consists of a civilian paramedic and a behavioral doctor who offer medication and support for people who have to deal with opioid consumption.

According to the CSFD, the BUPRENORPHINSTRIES team will wear, which can prevent the withdrawal and reduce the desire without causing sleepiness or euphoria. The team will also provide transfers to local clinics for people who fight with addiction to continue treatment.

“Adding this new team will help an vulnerable population in our community who often does not receive the right resources for your needs,” said fire chief Randy Royal in a statement.

Most recommendations come from Follow -ups on earlier 911 overdose calls, but the team will still follow other recommendations.

The program could apply for an additional year of financing as soon as the obligation of the year has expired.
