The resignation of Maharashtra Dhananjay Mund has triggered strong political reactions, with opposition leaders, Maratha organizations and activists in connection with the alleged murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh against him.

The chairman of Shiv Sena (UBT) Milind Narvekar congratulated deputy Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis to secure Mr. Mund's resignation. In the meantime, the Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange and other Maratha groups rejected the resignation as inadequate and demanded that Mr. Munde were classified as a co-accused and booked for murder.

Ajit Pawar defended Mr. Munde and explained that he had resigned for “moral reasons”. In contrast, the chairman of Shiv Sena (UBT) Aaditya Thackeray took a harder attitude and called for the government to dissolve.

The congress manager also started sharp attacks. The government of the MLA Nana Patole accused the government of having shielded the culprit and interviewed if measures were taken against other ministers that would have serious allegations. Congress worker Saral Patel published an alleged report in which the defendant in the murder of Sarpanch had recorded a video about the crime and urinated the victim's semi-death committee. He also claimed that Walmik Karad, the alleged mastermind, was a close helper and business partner of Mr. Munde.
