Oscars 2025: How to, nominations, predictions and schedule | observe, | Oscars

THere is a feverish atmosphere for the Oscars this year, which is largely caused by events outside of Hollywood's control. The advent of Trump and the resulting attack on diversity, justice and inclusion initiatives (for which the film industry was a fairly visible goal), the widespread devastation of the forest fires of Los Angeles, and the continued secret of the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa mean that the heads are reliably hiking somewhere else. As last year, there is also a dispute over Israel/Gaza in the background. Things are not so rosy in the industry either: the series about Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón's grotesque social media post has dominated the price campaign, while many Hollywoooder may tremble over the view of AI.

As for the Oscars itself, say in-the-know-Know types that the race for the best picture has been most open for years. At first it seemed as if the brutalist was winning, then Anora came through, and now there is the possibility that the conclave could. Of course, this assumes that Emilia Pérez has successfully shot herself in the foot; According to the head of the nomination list with 13, what are the chances of exceeding the record of 11, which are held by the turning point (1978) and the color Purple (1986) and not win one?

Well, it doesn't look like a complete wipeout for Emilia Pérez (see below). But his crisis is the chance of another film (and for the outsider, the main benefit of the outsider and Anora). With regard to the ceremony itself, we receive Conan O'Brien as hosts (which could mean a return to the more annoying tone of yesterday) and a bit like a kerfuffle over the song nominations; You will not be performed this year, but there will be a bad medley, tribute to Quincy Jones and James Bond, the Los Angeles Master Chorale and Blackpinks Lisa. Sounds like it is covering a lot of bases.
