Palace Forward Mateta with 25 stitches released from the hospital for serious injury to his ear

London: The striker of Crystal Palace, Jean-Philippe Mateta, who was played by Millwall on Saturday during a FA Cup game by Millwall's goalkeeper, was released from the hospital and is fine, according to the Premier League Club.

The Frenchman, who is Eagles' top scorer, was relieved of a stretcher in the 15th minute after he had caught a high challenge of the Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts, who received a just red card for serious fouls.

“We are very happy to confirm that JP Mateta was released from St. George's Hospital tonight, where he received specialist treatment and 25 stitches for a serious injury to his left ear. All scans were clear and JP feels good.

“He will now rest on the following days and recover, on which his progress is monitored by our club level,” said the club in an explanation.

Matetas replacement, Eddie Nketiah, scored a brilliant header as the palace when Palace advanced to the FA Cup quarter -finals. That makes games in a row this summer when Nketiah scored a goal, and his first goal Premier League for the Eagles against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening.

Mateta will hope to return to Palace after the Premier League games in April, with the striker only corresponding to four out of 16 goals last season.

“Thank you very much for your friendly news. I am fine. I hope to be back very soon. And stronger than ever. Well done, people for the great job today. I love you. JP” Mateta posted on social media.

The head coach of Palace, Oliver Glasner, expects Jean-Philippe Mateta to be missing at home in Ipswich Town next Saturday next Saturday.

“I think he will definitely miss the Ipswich game [on 8th March]But I still hope that it will be available for the quarter -finals of the FA Cup at the end of March, four weeks. Of course we all wish him all the best, “said Glasner.
