PETA demonstrators on 2025 Iditarod Start present

Anchorage, Alaska (Ktuu) – A group of people for the ethical treatment of animals (PETA) protested on Saturday at the beginning of the ceremonies of Iditarod in anchorage and protested against the race.

Demonstrators were also hit by counter -protests of at least one person or passers -by and iditarod participants. PETA demonstrators kept signs in the form of tombstones and fabric dogs that should look dead to emphasize the death of three dogs in the race of the previous year.

“Peta would like to see how the Iditarod develops to let the dogs out,” said John di Leonardo, an anthrozoolologist with PETA. “We would like to see that the race develops into a human endeavor or perhaps a breed with snow machines, but there is no reason to have these dogs that cannot agree to run until death. I think this is the 21st century, and dogs earn it better, and America deserves better. Alaska deserves better than a breed that kills dogs. “

Robert Zeigler was also present at the racing start against the PETA demonstrators.

“If you want to spend millions of dollars with Peta, Peta should perhaps work against what you try to work with someone and find a way like everyone working with someone,” said Ziegler. “You can see that they could deliver fences and pens instead of doing such a big deal because Musher is unable to do cages and things like that, these people can afford it.”
