On February 28, 2025, Pleiades revealed Astrophoto Pixinsight version 1.9.3, coden seeds 'Lockhart'. This update introduces significant improvements and new functions and improves the functions of the software for astrophotography -enthusiasts and specialists. Pixinsight is a dedicated astrophoto processing software, which is mainly used to process images with deep sky. In this article we will see some of the most important improvements in this new update.

Adaptive thread performance optimization

Pixinsight 1.9.3 introduces the adaptive thread execution optimization and improves performance for various image processing and numerical algorithms. This function dynamically determines the optimal number of parallel execution threads and improves efficiency based on the system specifications. The implementation in 1.9.3 focuses on critical algorithms such as:

  • Fastmedian: Histogram -based medium calculation
  • Fastmad: Histogram -based median absolute deviation
  • NOISEMRS: Rowlating with the help of multirolast support
  • PSFFIT: PSF adjustment with the Levenberg Marquardt Algorithm
  • Repetition, rotation and folding: key image transformation processes

With a new service command (Performance -X), users can run performance analysis and optimization tasks via the command line. A GUI option is also available under process> Thread performance analysis.

Improved work area management

Pixinsight now enables saving, managing and importing work area configurations. Users can:

  • Create custom work areas that are tailored to various image processing tasks
  • Save work area configurations with clear names
  • Import/export configurations as CSV files

Additional functions for work areas will be introduced in future 1.9.X versions.

New file

Two remarkable additions to the file menu improve the user control:

  • Close the project: Restore the previous work area configuration when a project is closed.
  • Open the single picture: Only load the first image in a multi-image file (e.g. WBPP integration pictures). This function is also accessed via Ctrl + Double -Click (CMD on MacOS).

Updated pre -processing scripts

The scripts for weight batchpractioning (WBPP) and the Fastbatchprocessing (FBPP) were updated with improvements and error fixes, including:

  • Embedded processing process in master files
  • Standard -XISF properties that are prioritized in front of adaptation metadata
  • AutoCrop improvements (letters of mask as 8-bit number of supplies)
  • Fixed errors in connection with pipeline version and metadata treatment

System and development updates

  • Maximum thread priority under Windows: This is now set to normal by default, but can be set manually.
  • No history fits keywords: processing process is now stored in XISF properties for better traceability.
  • QT version updated: Pixinsight 1.9.3 is based on QT 6.8.2 LTS to ensure better performance and stability.
  • New command line options for XML and module signature generation: Developers can now sign several XML documents and modulus files using wildcard-based commands.
  • PCL/C ++ – Development: During the reconstruction modules, developers are encouraged to compile PCL 2.9.3 for optimized performance.

Installation packages for Pixinsight 1.9.3 are available for all licensed users on Linux, MacOS and Windows. This version is not available as a standard application update and must be installed manually.

Clear heaven!
