Police are looking for tips in the Alsinia Raub in the city center of Ansonia

Ansonia, CT – The police are looking for the public to solve a weekend robbery in East Main Street, which was caught on video.

The incident occurred on Saturday at 11:40 p.m., the police said in a Facebook post on Monday.

A man told the police that he had a car accident, and then the driver of the other car began to shout him, and then took his wallet and phone. The man was not injured during the robbery, the police said.

Wayne Williams, chief of police from Ansonia, said the department received numerous tips and pursued it.

According to Williams, a video of the incident was brought into circulation on social media.

“We would encourage people not to share this video that repeats the victim in this case and sensationalized the ridiculous actions of those involved,” said Williams.

Williams said there were several people outdoors at that time, but nobody called the police or helped the victim.

“Instead of asking this robbery of a defenseless victim to video, responsible citizens should call 911,” said Williams. “We are better than that.”

Anyone who has information about the robbery is asked to call the police under 203-735-1885. Anonymous tips can remain from the Tip411 link in the department.
