Pope Francis Photo for the first time since he got sick – DW – 17.03.2025

For the first time since he started the hospital in mid -February, the Vatican published a photo of Pope Francis.

In the photo, the Pope will sit in a wheelchair and a cassock and stolen.

The Vatican press office said, Francis, 88, “Concelated Holy Mass in the chapel of his apartment on the tenth floor of the Gemelli Polyclinic”, the hospital in which he was treated since February 14 because he had a complicated pneumonia in both lungs.

“I do a time of the court procedure and I agree with many sick brothers and sisters,” said the Pope, adding that the body is weak, “nothing can prevent us from loving, pray, give ourselves and be in faith against each other.”

The Pope also prayed for those who were violated by war in “Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The holy chair described the state of the Pope as stable, but it is not yet known when he will be released from the hospital.

Large prayers in Papsts Heimatargentina

In Pope Francis Argentina, thousands of people gathered in a church on the outskirts of Buenos Aires to pray for the 88-year-old, reported Reuters News Agency.

The participants wore drums, pools, flags and doses of the holy water.

“Pope Francis live,” said a priest from the community.

Since many visitors to the community come from poor districts, the priest said that the community had been the Pope's preferences.

“This is how we should live the church while Pope Francis teaches us a poor church for the poor,” he said.

While he served as Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Pope Francis earned the nickname “The Slum Pope” because of his proximity to the arms and disadvantaged.
