Today Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that Michigan has received record registrations in the current school year and that families saved an estimated 475 million US dollar a year. The enrollment in the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), the state's primary Prek program, rose by 24%, since the governor announced the PREK for all initiatives in 2023. The announcement was made during an event in the Livonia Early Childhood Center.

“Prek gives children the strong foundation that they need to thrive in kindergarten and at the same time save families 10,000 US dollars a year,” said governor Whitmer. “In this school year, a record number of children is enrolled in precious, high-quality PREK programs across the state and saves Michigan $ 475 million. Today 56% of four -year -old Michigans are enrolled in Free Prek. In this year's budget we can build on this dynamic to build more children for lifelong success and save even more families more money. Let us do it. ”

“As a father of three threesome, I know how important it is for all of our children to have a great start so that they can build a brilliant future,” said Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist. “Thanks to the hard work of PEK providers in all of Michigan and our record, cross-party investments in Prek, we have saved families an average of $ 10,000 and ensured that every four-year access to the high-quality early education he deserves. Let us continue to find ways together to help families to be successful in Michigan. ”

“We know how important early learning experiences are for the development and success of children. That is why Mileap works with partners across the state to expand access to Prek for everyone,” said Dr. Beverly Walker-Ganga, director of Mileap. “Prek not only benefits the 4-year-old, but also benefits from our economy, as families can work or go to school if they know that their children are safe and learning. The PREK registration is now open for the school year 2025-26 and families can find programs that meet their individual needs at Miprekforall.org. ”

“Our high -quality educators give our youngest learners a strong preliminary training and help children to be successful in kindergarten and beyond,” said Andrea Oquist, superintendent of Livonia Public Schools. “Livonia Public Schools dedicates to our students in our brand new, top -class artist center for development technology. Families in our region who are interested in learning more should contact us today. ”

In the school year 2024-25, more than 47,500 four-year-olds are inscribed in GSRP programs, according to the preliminary reports to the state from intermediate school. In all programs, including the head start, development kindergarten and early childhood education, Michigan serves 56% of four-year-olds in free high-quality prek programs.

Prek helps ensure that when you enter the kindergarten, children are willing to present children to long -term success by providing the basis they need to be successful at school and in work. In addition to the advantages for children and their development, Free Prek families saves an estimated 10,000 US dollar a year. A recently carried out analysis showed that for every $ 1.72 US dollar for all $ 1.72, the economic advantages for our state are created.

The enrollment in Prek for All is now open to children for the school year 2025-26, which will be 4 years old by December 1, 2025. Prek is open to all families, regardless of their income, while they prioritize those who need the most urgent.
