Prime video tests are synchronizing for selected films and TV series

Prime Video is now experimenting with AI supported synchronization for selected licensed films and television programs, as announced on Wednesday by the Amazon streaming service.

According to Prime Video, this new test in English and Latin American Spanish will have synchronization services with professionals and combine AI with professionals with human localization to “ensure quality control”, the company said.

First, it will be available for 12 titles, the support of which is previously not synchronized. These titles include the Spanish animated film “El Cid: La Leyenda”, the family-friendly drama “Mi Mamá Lora” and the indie film “Long Lost”.

The AI-based synchronization has gained popularity in the entertainment industry, as it contributes to the fact that content is accessible to a wider audience. Various streaming giants have started with this technology.

For example, Deepdub, a company that specializes in AI synchronization, has Paramount+ among its customers. YouTube has also invested significantly in this area and recently introduced an automatic dubbing function with which the creators can translate their videos into several languages.

Prime Video already offers several AI functions that are supposed to improve the viewing experience, including “X-Ray Recaps”, which summarize whole seasons and episodes, and “Dialog Boost”, which improves audio clarity for dialogue, which may be difficult to hear.
