Published Geisel Agam Berger in the Joseph's grave in the Samaria City of Shechem (Nablus), March 3, 2025.

(JNS) Agam Berger, the field observer of the Israeli defense forces, who was released from the Gaza on January 30 after 482 days in Hamas captivity, prayed in the city of Samaria Shheechem (Nablus) in the city of Samaria on Sunday in the city of Samaria.

The 20 -year -old Berger was kidnapped by the terrorists of Hamas from the IDF military outpost during the invasion of the terrorist group on October 7, 2023 to the terrorist group together with several other female field observers. It was released as part of the Ceasefire deal with the Hamas, which ended on March 1st.

Berger, who spoke extensively about how she kept the faith during her almost 500 days in captivity, visited Joseph's grave together with her mother, the regional councilor Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, the head of Samaria, Rabbi Elyakim Levanon and military officers.

Berger and Dagan set fire to a candle at the location, and the head of the Samaria Council presented her a certificate of recognition that cited her words after the publication: “I chose the path of faith.” Rabbi Levanon blessed Agam and her mother and directed a prayer for the return of all prisoners and for victory in the war against Hamas.

“Nobody has to be left behind. They need us and our prayers – they need us to be strong for them, ”Berger was said in Hebrew reports.

“Oct. 7 was a time for our personal and collective search for soul. I came here to pray from their families for our brothers, ”said Agam's mother Merav Berger. “We have to return to the basics and see ourselves [the Jewish people] As a family, ”she added.

“May the kidnappings with the visit of this holy place – the US Jews – not be blessed in the dead of the night,” said Merav about restrictions for Jewish visits to the grave in the city of the Palestinian authority. “Agam was kidnapped as a Jew, and it is time for us to return to our identity, to act to our values as Jews. May salvation come soon and with mercy. “

Joseph's grave was often the goal of Arab Vandals. When the Israeli government gave up the location days after a fatal attack there on October 1, 2000, she triggered a promise from the PA that the location would be protected after the security forces. Shortly afterwards it was destroyed.

After 2022, the security conditions in Judea and Samaria deteriorated so far that the IDF operated again in Shechem. Initially, small groups of Jewish worshipers made risky attempts not to be authorized at the grave and pray without military escorts. Larger groups now occur regularly at night and are generally accompanied by severe military presence.
