Putin agrees to stop the Ukraine infrastructure attacks, but no ceasefire

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday to pause strikes about energy and infrastructure goals to end the war in Ukraine, said the White House and Kremlin, but an proposed armistice was not approved.

After Trump spoke to Putin by phone, the White House said that the two leaders agreed that the three -year conflict “has to end with a permanent peace”. However, the latest agreement is far from a full ceasefire, which is of essential importance for determining the basis for this ultimate goal.

Trump said on social media that his conversation with Putin was “a very good and more productive” and that the process was “now in full strength and effect” after he had discussed numerous elements of a broader peace plan.

Trump and his administrative officials were optimistic to smooth the way to peace in Ukraine, and initially tried to persuade Putin to accept an immediate 30-day armistice.

However, the announcement of the White House, which was published after her lengthy call, suggested that Putin had not committed to stopping Russia's military operations against Ukraine because he did not mention whether he accepted the Trump government's weapon-firm proposal.

Instead, the Kremlin said that Trump had proposed Russia and Ukraine, who both failed to attack the energy infrastructure for 30 days, and Putin immediately ordered his country's military to fulfill.

After her call, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he would support Trump's idea of avoiding strikes at energy locations.

The White House said that the “Movement to Peace” would also start with “technical negotiations” about the implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, a complete ceasefire and permanent peace.

It is said that the talks will start immediately in the Middle East.

In a long announcement, Kremlin said that foreigners should stop Ukraine with military support and secret services so that the peace process progresses.

After a meeting with high-ranking US officials in Saudi Arabia a week ago, Ukraine said that it was ready to accept the proposed ceasefire fire of the Trump government.

In return, the United States resumed their provision of military help and secret services to Ukraine. The support of the United States was suspended after Trump and Zelenskyy were confronted against Putin in front of the media in the Oval Office at the end of the last month, whether Putin could be familiar.

Putin later said that he was basically for the proposal, but added that there were decisive problems that had to be worked out, which pointed out that the Kremlin would not be unconditional to stop fighting. When Russian armed forces have the upper hand in the war, Kremlin's statement stated that his position did not change.

The negotiations conducted by the United States are carried out, while Zelenskyy remains skeptical that Putin will ever agree with a real, long -lasting peace.

On Tuesday, Trump and Putin agreed that according to the White House there would be “huge advantages” for improving relationships between Washington and Moscow.

“This includes enormous economic business and geopolitical stability when peace has been reached,” it said.

Trump discussed other problems with Putin, including the need to work closely in the Middle East and to stop the spread of nuclear weapons.
