Rainier withdraws to defeat Tenino, record first victory

From the Personal Chronicle

The Rainier Softball team achieved a big win on Tuesday when the mountaineers dominated late and retired for a 14-1 victory.

Rainier took control early with two in the first and added three in the second to increase his lead to 5-0. This score held until the mountaineers added fourth and two more in the fifth.

After Tenino put on the board at the end of the fifth board, Rainier broke it with a six-spot in the sixth.

Four of these runs came up with two outs when Ayana Elmstead, Mia Naval, Elaina Henry and Ryleigh Cruse perform four RBI hits in a row.

Marine, Henry and Cruse each ended three goals. Henry drove three, Naval brought Homt another and the trio combined nine runs.

Cruse threw six innings into the circle, gave up six goals and an undeserved run while walking two and seven.

Chloe Grayless allowed 14 runs for the beavers, but only six of them were felled as well -deservedly, and she excluded nine of her own innings with nine innings.

Kate Burkhardt went 2 for 2 on the plate for Tenino, while Macie Scharber went with an RBI double 1 for 3.

Both teams are back on Thursday when Rainier (1-2) after Toutle Lake to a non-League Tilt and Tenino (0: 1) drives to Montesano to reach his league start.
