Rally to support the IC Norcom runner after a viral Baton incident

Portsmouth, va. – A rally found a rally outside of IC Norcom High School on Thursday evening to support the runner, which was charged in a viral route baton since then.

The video of the VHSL Indoor Track State Championships from last week shows the IC Norcom -athlete Alaila Everett and the Brookville -athlete Kaelen Tucker in the second leg of the 4×200 -meter season finals. In the video, Tucker from Everett's baton can be hit in the head. The judges quickly disqualified the Norcom team after the incident.

The Brookville runner, according to Bethany Harrison, the lawyer of Commonwealth von Lynchburg, has a concussion and a possibly broken skull. Harrison confirmed that Everett is faced with an count of attack and battery.

The viral attention taken by the video has led to harassment and death threats that were addressed to Everett, who claims that this is an accident.

While the rally on Thursday, a tearful Everett thanked those who showed support and claimed that it was not targeted what happened during the relay.

“I would never do this. I would not harm anyone. I am not a fighter,” she said to gather the participants.
