Reynolds claims national titles, sets set records in weight throw

Virginia Beach, VA. -The senior thrower Daniel Reynolds delivered a historical performance at the NCAA icing athletics championships in 2025 on Friday and won the first national title of Wyoming for two decades with a meet record of 82 feet, 3 1/2 inches (25.08 meters) in the weight throw.

Reynolds' opening throw from 80-9 (24.61 m) stipulated the tone for the competition and almost exceeded the previous meeting record. His brand brought him almost five centimeters in front of the field. After achieving a consumer during his second attempt, he registered a litter of 78-3 1/2 (23.86 m), while the competition tightened, with two other athletes exceeding the 24-meter brand.

Reynolds increasingly increased his performance in the final. In his fourth attempt, he started a personal endeavor of 82-3 1/2 (25.08 m) and broke the record of NCAA indoor championship meeting by Michael Lihrman from Wisconsin in 2015 with 80-10 1/4 (24.64 m). His brand also tied for the second best throw in Collegiate history.

In the last two rounds, Reynolds threw 80-7 (24.56 m) before securing his title when no other competitor managed to exceed the 80-foot threshold in the last round. With the victory, Reynolds received his first all-America award of Division I and was appointed to the first team.

“We are very proud of how Daniel appeared in a big printing situation,” said Wyoming coach Paul Barrett. “He came in as a national leader and swung out on his first attempt.”

Barrett continued: “I can't imagine a better person to represent UW with class and humility. He is a special cowboy who loves his university, state and athletics program. One of the best to wear brown and gold. “

Reynolds was only the fourth cowboy in the program history, who won a NCAA national title and followed Wesley Maiyo (1,000 meters, 1974), Weight Throw, 1996) and Shauna Smith (400-meter hurdles, 2005). His 10 team points for first place were most in the history of Wyoming men and corresponded to Butler's performance in 1996.
