Roosevelts Brayden Burries breaks the record of CIF State when the Open Division was victory

Sacramento – Drives to the basket. Pull-up-3 pointer. Clever surfaces. Turnaround jumper. A Tomahawk jam. Rebounds. Steals. Assists – everything.

Everything on an NBA floor … Some could say that this is prophetic.

All ingredients for Brayden Burries Record-Breaking 44-point performance at Roosevelt's 80:60 win over Archbishop Riordan in the final of the CIF State Open Division on Saturday evening in the Golden 1 Center.

“Playing in large arenas like this is one of my dreams,” said Burries. “I want to play at the highest level.”

In 2017, the Burries broke the record of 35 by Jordan Brown from Roseville Woodcreek from the final playing game with open division. He also broke the record for field goals in an open final (10). The Burries ended 15 out of 22 of the field, including 4 out of 6 of 3. He was also 10 out of 12 from the free -wire line.

Senior Point Guard Myles Walker had 15 points. Jackson Haggins added 12 points and Issac Williamson scored seven points for Roosevelt, which had rebuilt 21 of 23 free throws.

Burries had 39 points after three quarters.

“He started early and came to the Freiawurfinie,” said Riordan coach Joey Curtin. “He got into a rhythm, he came to the edge and went in 3. We tried to guard him and put him different bodies. “

Burries is a 5-star recruit and McDonald's all-American with offers for schools such as Arizona, UCLA, Tennessee and Oregon. It is not a reach to see Burries in the NBA in the near future.

“He is a special player and it was a special night,” said Roosevelt trainer Stephen Singleton.

The game really broke out when Roosevelt took over his first double lead with one minute in the opening half of the opening with 40 to 30. The Mustangs went half-time with 44-33 and never looked back.

The lead reached 66-46 with 6:23 to play in the last framework. The biggest lead was 21 points with 4:40 to play.

Riordan was listed 22 points and eight rebounds by Jasir Renchers. Andrew Hillman added 11 points and seven rebounds.

“No disrespect of Riordan, but nothing is more difficult than going through the playoffs of the open division and then having to play the same teams again in the state playoffs,” said Singleton.

“Nobody knows like these guys from this glove,” said Singleton about his team.
