Roseland, Chicago Shooting: Kevin Rivera charge of shooting, kills the man in the South State Street on New Year's Eve, says the police

Chicago (WLS) – A man was charged with a murder on the south side on New Year's Eve, said the Chicago police.

The shootout occurred on December 31 shortly before 3 p.m. in the 11000 block of the South State Street, the police said.

A 38-year-old man was in the district of Roseland when someone got out of a white SUV, took out a gun and fired him, the police said.

The shooter then got back into the SUV and fled south in the State Street.

The victim, which was once shot in the head and twice in the chest, was transported to the Medical Center of the University of Chicago, where he died.

Almost two months after the murder, the police arrested 29-year-old Kevin Rivera.

He was arrested in 120th Street near the Michigan Avenue, the police said.

Rivera was charged with the first degree murder and a heavy battery.

The Chicago man is also accused of beating a 67-year-old man on the same day of fatal shooting.
