Salt Lake da Rules Officer affected shooting unjustified, no charges submitted

Sim Gill, District Prosecutor of Salt Lake County, has decided that a shootout, which had occurred in June 2024, was unjustified, although no charge is being charged against the officials involved.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on June 29, when a soldier of Utah Highway Patrol discovered a frenzied white Dodge RAM truck with violations of vehicle equipment. The truck supposedly fled before the soldier was able to carry out a traffic stops and was later left in 5650 West 700 South. The Salt Lake City police were called to support around 12:30 p.m.

During the search for suspects, a SLCPD officer fired at least one shot and beat a person who suffered no life-threatening injuries. Two suspects were taken into custody, including the one who was injured. The injured suspect received medical care at the crime scene before being brought to a nearby hospital with non -life -threatening injuries.

The gang unit of SLCPD, the violent criminal team, the K9 squad, the drone operators and the Utah Department of Public Safety Aero Bureau have supported this answer.

The official involved was transferred to the administrative leave using a standard protocol.
