San Diego FC draws record quantities for the first home game

The injury that Chucky Lozano from the 0-0 draw of the San Diego Football Club “rated” with St. Louis City SC in his first home game will be offered an update with trainer Mikey Varas, said a team spokeswoman.

Lozano, one of the two designated players from SDFC, left the game on Saturday evening in the 31st minute with what sports director and General Manager Tyler HEPs described as a “lower body” injury.

“It is something that we would like to do more scans, and of course that will happen tomorrow,” said Heps during the postgame press conference on Saturday. “But what I can say is that he is now in a positive mood and we hope to get him back as soon as possible.”

Lozano slows down when he tried to control a ball of midfielder Jeppe Tverskov over the top, then raised his right hand and looked at the bench, which indicates the need for a replacement. He went off the field from his own power, accompanied by two members of the SDFC training employee.

SDFC acquired Lozano on June 6 from the Dutch First Division team PSV Eindhoven and signed him as his first designated player, which means that his salary does not count against the salary limit.

Lozano supported the first goal in the team history and sent a cross to the other designated players, Anders Dreyer, who brought a shot in Los Angeles Galaxy Novak Micovic in Los Angeles in the 52nd minute of the 2-0 victory last Sunday.

On Saturday, the amount of 34.506 announced that the largest in the 2 1/2 year history of the Snapdragon stadium and exceeded the previous record of 34,248 for an exhibition 2023 between Manchester United by England Premier League and Wrexham AFC, then a member of the EFL-Liga two, the fourth animal of the English football system.

“I think the stadium was electrical,” said SDFC coach Mikey Varas.

Varas presented the same starting line -up as against the galaxy six days earlier.

SDFC headed 16: 2 in shots, but was 2-1 in hits.

CJ dos Santos recorded his second shutout in two games and stopped in the 38th minute and Joao Klauss in the 70th minute.

The goalkeeper of St. Louis City SC, Roman Belki, only had to stop a 40th-minute shot from midfielder Aníbal Godoy for his second shutout in two games.

Both games from St. Louis City SC in 2025 ended in goalless ties. Godoy's goal was the first to allow it.

“In view of the fact that we have been together for six weeks and are very disappointed with a tie, I think it shows a lot,” said Varas. “I think we show everyone that it is serious when we talk about how we want to play and what kind of culture we want to show.”

A common anti-homosexual singing of SDFC fans before a kick in St. Louis City SC said an announcement and message in the stadium: “The discrimination has no place in our sport and in our stadium, and we are not tolerated. The fishing singing that was simply used is offensive and we ask that fans are not still used.”

The vocals were repeated two minutes later.

“The singing that was heard this evening is unacceptable,” said Varas. “It is outside of our value system. It does not represent the players, me, the club, and it certainly does not represent San Diego or Baja California.

“It is not a reflection of those who we are. We are a community full of love, support and we believe in the power of diversity. I would like to make sure everyone knows that this does not come from our main fans group, La Frontera. They correspond to the same values as we do. They believe as much as we do.

“This came from more of the general population on sitting, and it was not everyone, and I understand that, but it was loud enough that it was enough people. And I just want to make it really clear, it has no place here. And if … they continue to come and make this singing, it is better that they don't come.”
