SAPD publish film material from Park police officers, who is armed with a knife that the vehicle drove in the Woodlawn Lake

SAN ANTONIO – On Saturday, the San Antonio police published a film material of an incident, in which a parking police officer shot a suspect, which, according to the department, was armed with a knife and did not follow any commands.

The shootout occurred on February 15, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. on Woodlawn Lake in the 100 block of the North Josephine Tobin Drive.

The police said the parking police officer Kimberly Alonso had been sent to the town for a serious accident.

The driver of a vehicle drove through a hiking trail and fell against the lake according to the SAPD.

Alonso approached the vehicle to check for the driver. However, the suspect, which was identified as a 30-year-old Chase Deckard-Thomas, left the vehicle armed with a knife, the police said.

SAPD said Deckard-Thomas pointed the knife to Alonso while he was on her. Although Alonso repeatedly issued commands for Deckard-Thomas to drop the knife, the police said that he was still on the gun.

Alonso fired several shots that ultimately met Deckard Thomas, the police said.

Deckard-Thomas was brought to a local hospital with critical injuries. SAPD said he was later charged with serious bodily harm to a peace officer.

Alonso was transferred to administrative leave after shooting. She has nine years as an officer.
