SDSUS Cluff called Lou Henson Award finalist

Boston, mass. – South Dakota State Men Basketball Senior Oscar Cluff To his numerous awards during the season when he was selected as a finalist for the Lou Henson Award 2024-25. The award announced by ColleGeinsider.com is presented annually to the top men in the mid-major college basketball.

Cluff put together one of the most memorable seasons in the history of the SDSU men's program. Born in Australia, the Summit League of the Year was selected. He was also a first team of the All-Summit League Performer as well as a selection for the all-defensive team and the all-new team of the conference.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Cluff was one of 10 candidates for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Naisith Basketball Hall of Fame, which was awarded to the men's basketball center of the year. He was also five times in the Summit Peak Performer of the week, the male Peak Performer of the conference of the month for November and the male peak newcomer of the month for January.

Cluff ended the season with an average of 17.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 30 appearances. He had a 63.4% clip from the field and was 77.8% on the free -wire line. Cluff's rebound per game is second place in the nation and the Field Goal percentage is the 10th place.

His 22 double doubles provided a program and a Summit League record for a single season, which was determined by the former Jackrabbit Mike Daum during the Slate 2018-19. The double-double sum is in the country in second place from Maxime Raynaud from Stanford, who recorded 23 in the season.

The HOUSON Award honors the former head coach of Illinois and New Mexico State, who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

The state of South Dakota had several finalists for the prize of Lou Henson Mid Major Player of the Year. The list contains Zeke Mayo (2024), Baylor Scheierman (2022), Douglas Wilson (2022), Mike Daum (2017, 2018, 2019) and Nate Wolters (2012 and 2013). Cluff is one of 35 players who are listed as finalists for the 2025 award.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member election committee, which consists of current and former head coaches and two senior employees of collegeinsider.com.
