Falling buildings along the coast of South Florida are currently being monitored with sensors around the clock. The technology aims to recognize a problem before it starts.

Already in December, a study by the University of Miami examined 35 buildings in which a significant drop in.

“The report did not surprise us at all. We live in an environment that is very special and has a very mixed floor. We build on the water level, so there is a very high water table. Everything I think was everything the report really did, something that was already known, ”says Mario Verciani, the CEO of Smartcore Systems.

The company started in 2021 and Verciani announced that he wanted to solve the concerns that so many builders and residents had: Was their place susceptible to the demise or other environmental impacts?

“The earlier we know, the faster we can do about it and the less expensive it will be,” explains Verciani. The solution are sensors from smartcore.

Eleven of these sensors are located in the Marenas Beach Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, one of the 35 towers identified in the study. The resort monitors the effects that construction could have on the building next door. Verciani also explains that two types of sensors are installed.

One is for vibration monitoring. The sensor collects data on vibrations that exceed threshold values ​​that can lead to cracks or long -term damage.

The other sensor lies in the foundation of the building and is referred to as Tilt Monitor. These sensors offer real -time monitoring about how a foundation moves or moves.

It is information that Cynthia Perez, General Manager of Marenas Beach Resort, is invaluable.

The real -time observations around the clock can be viewed via a data portal that engineers can access at any time. So far, Verciani says that they have not been made aware of anything in any of their properties.

He says that it is a positive sign of what technologies can be used to contain the problem before it begins.
