Separate shooting incidents in Bennettsville 2 injured

The Bennettsville police authority actively examines two separate shooting incidents that took place last weekend.

The officials reacted to a shootout in Breeden Street in Bennettsville and found a man who had been shot several times, said Bennettsville Interim Police Chief Sammy Crosland.

Crosland said that the officials had immediately provided help and secured the scene until Ems and additional emergency staff arrived on site.

The man was taken to the hospital for further treatment and remains in a critical condition, added Crosland.

He added about an hour later, the officers received a report on a second shootout.

Rescue services were contacted by a man who explained that he was shot in the Broad Street area and the Ellen Street.

Officials said the man had already been brought to a medical facility in a personal car.

“Fortunately, Marlboro County Ems was able to intercept him and quickly provide help. He was later flown to another medical facility for further assessments and treatment. After the latest update, the victim is in a stable state,” said Crosland.

The police said that the two shootings do not seem to be connected at that time.

No arrests were made at the shootings on Wednesday evening and they remain investigated.
