“Serious incident” at the Hathaway High School examined, says Superintendent, says Superintendent

Jeff Davis Parish, La. (KPLC) – A “serious incident” that includes “inadmissible behavior” among the students of the Hathaway High School.

The incident occurred in October, but has not yet been reported, said John Hall, the superintendent of the schools of Jeff Davis Parish.

Jeff Davis's office's office examines the incident and Hall said that school officers will take “adequate disciplinary measures”.

Hall gave no further details about the incident. We contacted the Sheriff's office to get more information about the examination.

The full statement from Hall can be found below:

“I would like to present an update for an ongoing examination at the Hathaway High School on a serious incident in October 2024, but has not yet been reported. The allegations include inadmissible behavior between the students. We take these matters with great seriousness and worked closely with detectives from the Sheriff's office of the community of Jeff Davis. The examination is active and we strive to ensure that it is treated by transparency and thoroughness.

“Let me be clear: our school system has one Zero tolerance guideline for any form of harassment or misconduct. We are deeply striving to ensure that every student feels safe, supported and respected in our schools. The security and well -being of our students have our highest priority, and we will take all the necessary steps to solve this matter and to hold everyone who is involved in such behavior. As soon as the examination has been completed, we will take appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with local politics and state law.

“I would like to assure you that we address this matter with the highest seriousness and urgency. We will not tolerate any form of harassment or misconduct in our schools and continue to work hard in the investigation and keep our students' security at the head of all of our actions.

“Thank you for your understanding and your continued support during our investigation. Together we will ensure that our schools stay in places where all students can learn and grow. “
