Seth Jones acted on Panthers from Blackhawks for Knight, 1st round pick

Seth Jones was traded by the Chicago Blackhawks against goalkeeper Spencer Knight on Saturday and a conditional election in the first round in the 2026 NHL design to the Florida Panthers.

Florida also received a choice in the fourth round in the draft of 2026.

“Seth is an elite veteran defender and a proven leader in our league,” said Bill Zito, General Manager of Panthers. “He was one of the most permanent players of the past decade, which serves as a reliable work animal on both sides of the puck, and he will help our club continue to take part at the highest level.”

In the third season of an eight-year contract, Jones is over $ 76 million (average annual value of $ 9.5 million), which he signed with the Blackhawks on July 28, 2021. Chicago will keep 26 percent of Jones's salary.

“Seth is a professional, a great guy in the changing room, so we wish him all the best,” said Blackhawks coach Andersenensen after a 6: 3 victory against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

The trade comes less than a week after Jones expressed frustration after a 2-1 defeat against the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday. Chicago (18-35-7) is 31.

“We are currently exactly the same team as we 1,” said Jones. “It's pretty obvious out there. We have not made any progress to be a better, simpler hockey team, and it shows that we don't get many victories because of that.”

On February 21, Jones had informed the Athletic that he was ready to forego his non -movement clause so that it could be acted.

“I have been here in the past four years through the darkest times when the Blackhawks have seen for a while,” said Jones. “I think things are moving, they go ahead. But I think my timeline could be different from Kyle (Davidson, General Manager of Blackhawks) and norm (Maciver, Associate GM) and the Blackhawks.

“There is nothing against someone. I don't think it is against someone you have decided here. Sometimes it is not in the plans of everyone.”
