Several departments fight against Oconto Apartment Fire

Oconto (WLUK) – Everyone is safe after an apartment fire in Oconto.

The fire broke out on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Main Street.

Due to the size of the fire, nine departments reacted.

Five people inside went out. They are supported by the American Red Cross.

Officials say that the fire is difficult to contain because there were so many layers on the roof.

“Since it is an older building, it is the old type that is referred to as the Blue frame construction so that there are no fire stops in the walls. It is assumed that it was a fire on the first floor, but it came into the wall cavity, quickly grew to the top floor to the attic room, and as soon as it hit the attic, it simply hiked and climbed over this loft room and when this ceiling could be compromised and remained in the interior, ”explained the Oconto Fire Brigade Josh Bosted.

From Thursday morning, only Oconto was the only on -site department that launched hot spots.

“At the moment we are only on site with an aircraft, only monitored from above and add additional water where it has to be when we recognize warmth from our thermal imaging cameras,” said Bostedt.

No firefighters were injured.
