Several records of the state of Pennsylvania fall two weeks before the state at WPIAL championships

WPIAL AA and AAA championships

The qualifying meeting of the Pennsylvania High School State State let go last week. The winner of each event can go to the High School State Meet together with additional athletes who have reached the automatic time standard. After these athletes have been counted, add swimmers who earn the exam time until they have reached the maximum number of qualifications. (2a 16, 3a 40).

2a summary

Mt. Pleasant Senior and NC State commit Lily King led the 2a meeting and broke two records of the state of Pennsylvania and a record of Western Pennsylvania (WPIAL) and led the team to the 2nd place.

King started the day with the freestyle in the girl 200 Medley relay and divided 21.40 to help her season earn the gold medal. The rest of the relay consisted of Kiersten O'Connor on the back (25.14), Lainey Brown on the chest (29.82) and Maddie Barrick At Fly (28.86) and they took 1.: 45.22 to break their own WPial record of 1: 45.86 from 2023.

She won both individual events in the State Records in Pennsylvania. In the 200 freestyle she was the first in 1: 44.62 and won the event by more than 10 seconds. This was a second faster than her former best of 1: 45.51, which she visited at the state championships last year. It was also just over a tenth under the previous Piaa record of 1: 44.73, which was determined by Courtney Harnish 2017.

She also won the 100 freestyle in 47.65, more than half-a seconds faster than her former best of 48.21 from this meeting last year. Again, under her own state record of 48.38, she stood in the event last year's state meeting.

Finally, King Mt. Pleasants won 400 freestyle relay. Riley Shinsky (54.35) then led them down, then Maddi Barrick (56.81) and Lainey Brown (55.51). King brought her home in 46.79 to help them 3: 33.46.

King wasn't the only swimmer who broke records. Two -shaded side academy in the second year Ava Jochims the girl won 200 in 2: 00.09, which broke through the WPial record of 2: 00.57, which was determined by Bailey Bonnett From 2: 00.57. This was a new best time and fell over the previous year compared to her best from 2: 01.79 compared to last year. Jochims also won the 500 freestyle in 4: 54.22, a slight add of their lifelong best from 4: 50.44 from January 2024.

On the boy, Mt. Pleasant Senior David Murmeln won the 100 flies in 48.01. This time his own WPial record of 48.30 broke compared to last year. Mother also has the state record in the event at 47.52. He also separated 21.73 as a flyer on the Medley relay. His other event was the 500 freestyle, which he won in 4: 34.54 by two seconds.

3a summary

The 3A meeting also saw some new state records on the side of women. Mt. Lebanon Senior Sylvia Roy.

Roy, who works for swimming in Virginia in autumn, broke the state records in both individual events. She started with a win and a record in 50 freestyle, where she went 22.57. The previous Piaa 3a record in the event was 22.66 by defined by Alexa Fulton In 2022 her best in the event was 22.60 from a few weeks ago.

She also broke the record in 100 and won the event in 52.53. She held the previous state record with 52.90 from last year, which was also her best time at the event.

Roy also swam on two seasons for Mt. Lebanon, although they have not won any of them. She anchored the girl's 200 medley in 21.70. She also performed her 400 freestyle relay in 49.13, which was a new WPIAL record in the event, in which the 49.53 record from Olivai Livingston broke from 2017.

State preview:

The Piaa State Meet will combine swimmers from several different districts and will take place from March 12th to 15th in the Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg Pennsylvania.
