Sherrone Moore shares the largest lesson he learned from Jim Harbaugh

In his second season as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, it is apparently in a much better place for Sherone Moore. Although the process of taking over as head coach was certainly an exciting, it also included some incredible challenges to stay on the squad on the players and to rebuild an entire coaching team. The program is much more stable, the pieces are available and Moores Wolverines are ready for another run at the conference championship and beyond.

Moore recently sat an interview with Front Office Sports and thought about his time with the former head coach Jim Harbaugh. Obviously, the way to the success of Harbaugh in Michigan was not easy, and it was certainly not without some bumps on the street. But when he was asked about the greatest lesson he had learned from Harbaugh, Moore pointed out his ability to adapt.

“I would probably say that, just because you did something in a way, you don't mean that you always have to do it. It's okay, who cares.

There is no question that Harbaugh is a guy who likes to do things in his own way, but he also showed a massive willingness to adapt to Michigan if things didn't work. This adaptability helped Michigan, from annual third place in the big ten to the conference up to three wins in a row against the state of Ohio, the conference champion three years in a row to carry three trips to the playoffs of college football and ultimately a national championship in 2023.

After his first season as head coach and under his own bumps and bruises, Moore suffered this “adaptation or” mentality, which he learned from Harbaugh in 2025.
