Shoneys in Athens gave 30 days of ultimatum to clear out security concerns or to suspend the demolition

Athens, Ala. (Waff) – A breakfast chain in Athens has less than 30 days to improve its facility, or the city will tear you down.

Shoney is 72 in Athens on the USA in Athens to choose the future of the restaurant.

The mayor of Athens, Ronnie Marks, says that the building has serious security problems and has to be repaired.

The building should already be demolished, but the owners asked for an extension by 30 days. The city council of Athens approved the extension on Monday.

According to Marks, the owners have indicated to replace the restaurant as a whole.

“You told us that you have given us information to us that you work with a national chain to put it down and to bring something here, you did not give me what this national chain is,” said Marks.

He says that if nothing is done in the next 30 days, the city will tear down the building.
