Shooting on the Covington Highway in Dekalb

According to the Dekalb County police authority, a man is dead after a shootout at Covington Highway.

The authorities responded to the shootout shortly after 10:15 a.m. to the 7000 block of the Covington Highway. When the officials arrived, they found a man who was taken to a local hospital several times, but died of his injuries, the police said.

The investigators said the shootout escalated from a fight between the man and another person. Officials interview a second person at the scene.

The police department said its investigation continues.
