Some residents of Bethany frustrated when water leak has not been unfixed since November 2024

Some inhabitants of Bethany say that they have been waiting for a water leak to capture their neighborhood since November.

The city exhibited traffic cones in the NW 27th Street and the North College Avenue to be careful for the drivers. Although a woman Fox 25 tells, many drivers were not too careful during the cold snaps last week.

“It somehow looked like Grand Theft Auto outside, where they are just in the air,” said Angela Key. “I am surprised at the front of your car. I am surprised that there are no auto parts outside.”

On Wednesday evening, Key recorded videos in which drivers had problems with the water leak in front of their house that was frozen into a ramp.

“I was in contact with the city of Bethany in relation to her because it is very loud. I can hear the whole day and all night over the spraying in my house.”

Elizabeth Gray, City Manager from Bethany City, provided FOX 25 with the following explanation:

We recently decided to rule this out. This leak was rated as a candidate for inserta-Valves. We work with contractors and have received an offer for two inserta-Valves. The staff is waiting for the cost to remove the old valve and install a new piece of tube (excavation, sleeves, mega slas).

Unfortunately, some of these leaks and different objects last a while. The staff must first prioritize repairs to water failures, leaks for water volume and wastewater errors. This repair is at the top of the list for repairs without emergencies and we work with a contractor to replace the inserta-Valves. I currently have no schedule for this repair because I am waiting for information from the contractors.

“It was so long ago,” said Janis Woolf. “After a while you just think: Will it ever be finished?”

According to Gray, the leak along the North College Avenue is at the top of the list for repairs without emergencies and works with a contractor to replace the inserta-Valves.

Woolf says that this is the worst water situation with which she treated in the 29 years in which she lived in the neighborhood.

“It is different from Bethany. Bethany usually does things to me. It is disappointing that this is going on for so long.”
