According to the Travis County public prosecutor's office, the 29 -year -old Wasek was charged with an invasive visual recordings of 21 crimes. He was charged in front of a big jury on May 17, 2024.

In these cases, Wasek was accused of secretly accepting a total of 13 victims in Travis County over two years.

“The public prosecutor's office of Travis County takes the work to present all the facts and evidence of a Grand jury very seriously,” said José Garza, district prosecutor of Travis, in a press release at this time. “In this case, a group of independent members of the municipality of Travis County heard the evidence and the law and decided that Mr. Wasek's behavior was ill.”

An affidavit showed that Week recorded the videos in several houses that had his family. He supposedly filmed people in bathrooms “with the toilet, showers, change and/or sex”.

According to the television station KXAN-TV, a woman reported that she was with friends who visited a Lake House in Wasek, as a friend who works in cyber security for the Ministry of Defense, found a charging port in a bathroom with a hidden camera.

The group went and took the camera with them, the television station reported. The camera contained a memory card with dozens of videos of themselves and other people in bathing rooms and bedrooms.

“They did not know that the recordings in the bedroom and bathroom existed, and stated that they had not approved to be recorded or photographed,” said KXAN TV, citing an affidavit.

A police report was submitted to the Dallas police department and turned over the camera and the memory card, the outlet reported. Someone from the group also contacted the Sheriff of the Travis County.

After securing an arrest warrant, the authorities found 68 film files, which contained at least 13 male and female persons who were traced back to at least 2021, reported Kxan TV.

Overall, the authorities found film material from real estate such as a house on Lake Travis, an Austin apartment, an apartment in Dallas and a holiday home in Telluride, Colorado, which belonged to the parents of Wasek.

Amazon Records also showed that Week had ordered “Spy Cameras”, the outlet reported.

Referring to court files, KXAN-TV reported that the files found on Wasek's memory card were pictures of people who were apparently pre-puzzling. Detectives of the Sheriff office of the Travis County sent the pictures to the national center for missing and exploited children and compared the pictures with known victims in the center database. The comparison led to the identification of a girl aged 6 to 8 years.

According to the television station, the girl had previously been recorded at the age of 7. The pictures were then distributed online, which led to condemning a suspect for two production of child pornography, a number of distribution of child pornography and another count for possession of the content.

USA TODAY has commissioned the criminal department of the district clerk of Travis County.

David Gonzalez, the lawyer of Wasek, previously said USA Today that the case of his client “” the legal right to install cameras in his own home “. The defense lawyer said that the cases “many thorny legal problems” and in particular one question concern: “May a homeowner install a camera in his house without communicating the housekeepers or guests, or does the guest have a greater right than the homeowner?”
