Spring vacation trip begins unsafe start

It is the beginning of the busy Spring Break Travel season, and it happens because the consumer mood was at best doubtful.

The planner in me shudderly at thinking, but many people have not yet decided whether they should travel for the spring holidays.

“The booking windows take off – the time between the booking of people and when they actually go on vacation, it has shrunk considerably,” said Jan Freitag, the hotel data for Costar.

These travel decisions at the last minute speak for uncomfortable consumers, she said.

“They say: 'Ok, we'll still go, but maybe we won't go for four days. Maybe we only go for three. Or 'maybe we'll fly somewhere. Maybe we'll be driving somewhere, ”said Freitag.

Or maybe you decide to jump on a cruise instead. Pete Larkworthy is the Executive Vice President of Sales at Infinity Research, which analyzes data from the cruise industry. He said that the bookings in spring are strong.

“There is a pretty good cost advantage that the cruise industry enjoys compared to a trip to Vegas or Disney,” he said.

The cruise industry also benefits from recent investments in lively new ships, said Larkworthy. “There is always a kind of halo effect about new hardware.”
