SPS Technologies Fire: Bodycam film material shows first aiders who come to massive fire

On the evening of Monday, February 17th, a massive fire devoured the PLC Technologies Factory on the 300 block of the Highland Road in Abington Township with more than 60 employees, said officials.

Newly released police cam video shows the hectic moments after the first aiders at SPS Technologies in Abdington arrived at the massive factory fire from four-alarm.

What we know:

“There is a huge explosion. It shook my house like crazy,” says a resident of a police officer from Abmington when he arrived on site.

“Anything else inside?” Screamed an officer when he entered the building.

The dramatic footage shows that the police contribute to evacuating the 60 employees who were in the 600,000 square meter building at the time the fire broke out.

Explosions could be heard when the officers went from door to door in the neighborhood in the factory and warn the residents of the proximity.

“We will only ask that you evacuate a little.

Within minutes the fire burned out of control when the officials tried to explain all inside. Surprisingly, there were no injuries during the six -day incident.

A week after the fire, however, the residents asked questions in a Jenkintown district council on Wednesday evening.

“SPS does not yet have to be displayed to answer questions directly,” said a resident during the public comment on the fire.

The residents are concerned that they have not heard directly from PLC since the beginning of the fire and asked themselves exactly what was burned in the fire.

“How can we make sure that this company is held accountable?” Asked another resident.

Officials continue to say that air quality and water tests have come back with results without public concern. However, some demand soil and floor tests in their houses, especially after charred debris have been reduced on nearby properties.

“I have pushed for soil and floor tests since they opened the school again.”

District officers say that they too want to hear from the company.

“We are definitely on your side. I mean, Jenkintown took the main burden from it and we are aware of it,” said Jay Conners, President of the Jenkintown district council.

SPS did not answer a comment.
