Start time, route, road closures and everything else you need to know

Center City and Benjamin Franklin Parkway are flooded in green, white and orange this weekend, since Philadelphia organizes the second oldest parade to St. Patrick's Day in the country.

The Philadelphia St. Patrick's Day Parade, which goes back for more than 250 years, will take place on Sunday, March 16, thousands of spectators – and will be closed by road closures, parking restrictions and transit shops.

What began as a religious festival and service for a celebration with parades, parties and many Irish stouts that St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, honored.

You need to know the following for the parade day.

Parade participants will gather to gather 9 a.m. in the Schuylkill Avenue and John F. Kennedy Boulevard near the 30th Street Station.

The parade Steps at 11 a.m. out of 16th Street and JFK Boulevardheadline North in the 16th StreetThen turn Left to Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The route continues West along the parkwayat the Philadelphia Museum of Art around 3 p.m

On the parade day, Accuweather predicts an airy day with heights of 68 degrees with the chance of rain shower in the afternoon.

Expect considerable road closures in the entire Center City and in the Parkway area.

From 5:30 a.m.:

  1. Eakins Oval (from the Kelly Drive to the Spring Garden Street) closed until 4 p.m.

From 9 a.m. (Until 3:30 p.m.):

  1. John F. Kennedy Boulevard between the 20th and 15th street

  2. 20th Street between the street and Arch Street

  3. 19th street between the streets of Markt- und Arch Street

  4. 18th Street between the street and Arch Street

  5. 17th street between Markt- und Arch Street

  6. 16th Street between the streets of the Markt- und Arch Street

  7. 15th street between the streets of Markt- und Arch Street

From 10:30 a.m. (Until 3:30 p.m.):

  1. 16th street between Markt- and Cherry Street

  2. Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 16th Street and Eakins Oval

  3. Close all intersection roads along the parkway from 16 to 22. Street when the parade comes by. The streets will be opened again as soon as the parade is finished.

Park restrictions will be in force on the parade route early Sunday morning. Vehicles in restricted areas are towed “with friendly approval”. Here is what you should know about courtesy.

5 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  1. Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 16th Street and Eakins Oval

6 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  1. 1400-2000 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard

The easiest way to get to the parade and skip the parking problem is to take public transport. Regional rails, U -Bahn, trolleys and Patco lines are operated on in a regular Sunday plan.

  1. Regional rail: Arrive too Station Jefferson or suburb– – – both on foot from the parade.

  2. Broad Street Line & Market-Frankford Line: Are you getting off Town hall station For easy access.

  3. Patco: Drive too 15./16. & Grasshopper or 12./13. and grasshopper stations.

  4. Septa bus: Routes 2, 7, 17, 27, 31, 32, 38, 38, 44, 48, 49, 124 and 125 is from a detour of 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
