State Rep calls for Metra to publish internal studies – Chicago Tribune

Good morning, Chicago.

The Land representative Cambium “Kam” Buckner asked Metra to publish the results of an internal investigation and to express his “deep disappointment” in the decision of the railway agency to hold back the results of the work of an external law firm.

“At a time when tax restrictions have to investigate governance, surgery and agency structures (transit), this lack of transparency raises serious concerns,” he wrote in a letter to the board of Metra. “Simply put, you cannot ask taxpayers to pay for an investigation and then tell them that they have no right to know the results.”

Buckner's letter follows, including one from the tribune on Monday, about the hiring of the law firm McGuirewoods by Metra, an investigation of 1.57 million US dollars and refusing to make the results public. The examination was based on anonymous symptoms that were made at Metra about the agency's police department.
