Students of the South San High School present state studs at the ceremony on Independence Day in Texas

SAN ANTONIO – On Sunday, students from the South San High School pressed what the independence day in Texas means for them during a ceremony in Alamo.

March 2 marks on the 189th anniversary of the Independence Day of Texas and remembered when 59 delegates declared independence from Mexico in 1836.

During the ceremony, students from the South San High School Band, Dance, Mariachi, Jrotc and cheerful programs also showed their pride for the state.

“Today was great fun,” said Junior Olivia Martinez. I love to meet the community and simply celebrate what kind of performance Texas has become. It's really amazing. ”

“I have the feeling that music is such a large part of our state and even in our city of San Antonio,” said Senior Elta Hancock. “So just being here as if you see it everywhere you go, you know, even if you don't think there is music. There is music, do you know? Music is in everything and it is such a large part of our culture. “

“I would definitely say that the culture is my favorite part of Texas, just as people really get each other together,” said Senior Karolyn Calderon. “It doesn't matter where you come from or what you do, what you say. We all come together and it is such a nice experience. “

“I would say that Texas is in a good way loud and proud of how it is for the world,” continued seniors Johan and Kristopher Calderon.
