The community gathered on Saturday morning to start the celebrations for St. Patrick's Day.

Alvin McFeely and his children Ella and Jacks traveled from Sister Bay to Sturgeon Bay to experience their very first parade to St. Patrick's Day.

“This is the first time that we are actually in Sturgeon Bay for a parade. We make a lot of parades from Sister Bay, but there is not much up there,” said McFely.

Brent Brilla came to the parade on Saturday to perform his daughter with the Sturgeon Bay High School Band.

“When she was in something, we were at the Christmas parade when it snowed and the Easter parade when it snowed,” said Brilla.

But he didn't expect the weather as beautiful as it turned out.

“We actually have pretty good weather. It should storm today, I think, so everyone is pretty happy. The streets are full, that's great,” said Brilla.

Genevieve Fuller celebrated the holiday weekend with her family at Kitty O'reilly, but said the highlight of her day came early Saturday morning.

“I think my favorite part was the parade,” said Fuller.

For others who celebrate Irish Pub in Kitty O'reily's Irish, many continuing celebrations celebrated that had started at the beginning of the week.

Luke Michalski says he celebrated on Friday.

“[At] 6:30 last night I did a bit of a nap, but I wanted to be prepared for this afternoon, “said Michalski.

But he will be back at work on Monday after celebrating.

“If my boss sees that, I'll be in the office on Monday,” said Michalski.

Peter Kristan, who also celebrated the holiday at Kitty O'reilly, thanked his wife and all the drivers that they protected and ensured that the celebrations were both fun and responsible.

“Call today and the whole weekend over all the drivers designated because they took care of us and really helped us to enjoy the celebrations,” said Fuller.

Although the holiday falls on Monday, companies all over Sturgeon Bay will continue the celebrations by organizing their own celebrations on Monday.
