Sulfur fire brigade tests hydrants in March

Sulphur, La. (KPLC) – The sulfur fire brigade will test and inspect the city's fire hydrants throughout the entire March month.

The residents can notice a discolored tap water when the fire brigade staff sinks the city's hydrants of the city, according to city officials.

The annual tests are crucial for maintaining the fire assessment of fire brigade class 2 and to ensure that hydrants work efficiently for fire protection purposes. Together with the maintenance of the fire assessment, the test monitors the health of the city's water system, identifies weak areas in the system, stirring materials that settle down in the hydrant and steer the lines.

According to city officials, customers who notice discoloration in their water should not be worried.

The residents are encouraged to operate water until it is clear before they wash or drink clothes. In most cases, the water is imposed in about five minutes. If the discoloration remains, the residents should wait an hour and try again.
