Suspect on Friday King St. 'Road Rage' shoots dead through self -inflicted fires: CPD

The Charleston police authority confirmed on Saturday that the suspect at a shootout who closed the King Street on Friday died in the hospital after taking up a self -indebted firing wound in a house in West Ashley later that day.

Around 2 p.m. on Friday CPD closed the King Street in the city center of Charleston after several rounds had been fired on a vehicle. No injuries were reported and CPD said it was an obvious act of rage.

Detectives with CPD identified during the examination and found his speech in West Ashley before the Cypress Branch Court. A person contacted CPD during the examination and reported that the suspicious self -harm threatened.

CPD representative, members of his Special Operations Division and the crisis negotiation team reacted and asked for several road closures.

During his time on site, the officials reported that the suspect barricaded himself in the residence before hearing a single shot. They appeared to find the suspect alive who suffered from a self -inflicted gunshot wound.

Charleston officials and staff of the Charleston fire brigade took “life -saving measures,” said CPD before being taken to a local hospital. He finally succumbed to his injuries and his identity must still be published by the Coroner's Office of the Charleston County.
