Suspected the alleged drug dealer from Sinaloa cartel

The Sheriff's office of the Limestone County arrested a man who was suspected of being a member of the Sinaloa cartel after being accused of shot to a woman on Interstate 65.

The incident occurred on Thursday at 2.45 p.m. near the 365 exit in the Alabama/Tennessee line.

The MPs answered a call from a woman who called Joel Cespedes, a self-proclaimed Sinaloa cartel drug dealer, after threatening to kill her if she didn't stop her vehicle. The victim refused to stop and said that Cespedes opened fire on the highway.

The investigators said the victim could record the encounter.

A soldier of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (Aleea) moved Cespedes and the MPs arrested him. They found numerous fraudulent ID cards, passports and stolen credit cards.

Cespedes was charged due to attempted murder, domestic violence second degree, trade with stolen identities, possession of a firearm by a forbidden person and possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl.

It is recorded in prison with a payment bond of 2,005,000 US dollars.

Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said that he was grateful that the victim was safe.
