Officers found an 18-year-old male male who suffered from gunshot wounds on the site. They immediately started life -saving measures, but the man was declared dead at the scene.

The shootout, which was assumed that they took place near the elevator, had the residents of the residential building shaked and changed with a low income.

Danielle Eberwein, a resident of the building, described the terrible scene of Komo News.

“I and my children live on the fourth floor and everything we heard was: 'Pop -Pop someone helps someone.' The police officers were detective forensics here that we couldn't get in front, “she said.

Shelbie Boyd, public information officer of the Tacoma Police Department, expressed the grief of the community.

“It is sad. It is tragic. A life lost in Tacoma is unacceptable, but if it is a younger person who had her whole life in front of you, it will hide even more,” said Boyd.

The police are still investigating whether the shootout was random or targeted. In the meantime, residents such as Eberwein were frustrated about the ongoing crime in the region.

“It is a brand new building, and it has already been opened. There is always some drug activity, and the office just doesn't take care of us. I am ready to move and we are just pulling here,” said Eberwein.

After an investigation, detectives developed a probable reason to arrest a suspect, a 15-year-old boy.

On March 5, the police officers and detectives from Tacoma arrested the teenager in the same block in which the shootout took place.

The suspect was taken into custody without incidents and booked up in Remann Hall due to the first degree murder.
