'Tank' Davis vs. Roach Live updates, results and analysis

GERVONTA “Tank” Davis defends his WBA Lightweight title against Lamont Roach Jr. on Saturday evening in the main event of a boxing card in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (Prime Video PPV, 8 p.m. ET).

Davis (30-0, 28 Kos), a three-division title list, has a KO of Frank Martin from a eighth round in June. In his last 10 fights, he has nine Kos, including a co-victory in a seventh round against Ryan Garcia in 2023. Davis won the WBA title “regular” by stopping the Yuriorgis Gamboa in 2019, and made four successful defense before he was increased to the WBA “Super” champion in January 2024.

“Roach is definitely an rude awakening,” said Davis during a media training on Wednesday. “He tries to check himself, but it depends on skill. Anyone whoever is the most qualified fighter will be the winner.

“I'm sharp, fast and explosive. Lamont is also sharp. It becomes a hit.

Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOS) has had six consecutive fights for the WBC Junior Lightweight title in 2019 since a unanimous loss of decision against Jamel Herring. He stopped Feargal McCrory in round 8 in his last fight last June last June.

“The missions are higher, but I just want to get hard, that's it,” said Roach. “I trained to be in the best physical and mental form in which I can possibly be.

“This is all for me, and it would be a dream to become a dream that will come true for me.”
