Helsinki – The Tanker Eagle S, which is accused last December for underwater cables in the Baltic Sea, left Finland because the criminal investigation has achieved a phase in which the presence of the ship is no longer necessary.

The Finnish border guard monitored the departure of the tanker from Finnish territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone, the local police authority announced on Sunday.

The preliminary investigation now considers the alleged charges as severe vandalism and severe interventions in telecommunications. The authorities expect to complete the criminal investigation by the end of April.

The confiscation command on the ship was lifted on February 28th. However, three crew members are still excluded from Finland. According to the police, the electricity companies continue to pursue compensation claims by the courts.

The Estlink 2 line damaged by the tanker remains repaired according to the Finnish State Grid operator Fingrid.

Although Fingrid and the Estnian State Grid operator are no longer striving for the ship's attack, both operators of transmission systems plan a lawsuit against Eagle and compensation from legal proceedings.
