Tennis secures victory against No. 55 Mississippi.

Columbia, Mon. -The University of Missouri Tennis defeated State No. 55 in the Green Tennis Center on Sunday, March 2. The victory is the first victory of Missouris against a nationally classified team since March 11, 2022 when he defeated No. 43 Kentucky with 4: 3.

The Tigers started hot and earned the colon and won two of the three games. Junior Andrea Artimedi and senior Mary Brumfield won in court three, 6-2. To win the highly competitive colon, newcomer Zoe lazar and doctoral student Lailaa Bashir won in court two, 7-5.

Lazar continued and ended with a win 7: 5 and 6: 2. Inah Canete won the second tiebreak 7-2 to claim the game. Next came Brumfield, who fought hard and forced a third set, but had recorded a 4: 6, 6: 4, 4: 6 on Court. The win for the Tigers was Artimedi five, 6-4.6-3.

“Incredible team effort today. Mississippi State came here in 55th place with several good victories at the beginning of this season. There was a good degree of tennis in all dishes. I am proud of how the team dealt with the excitement of the game. We started strongly, fought hard and won the colon with Zoe and Lailaa -Save a Match point. It was a good victory for Inah.

Next on
The Tigers will drive out of the city for a weekend trip to Norman, Oklahoma, on Friday, March 7th and compete against No. 12 at 5 p.m. CT. Missouri then drives on Sunday, March 9th, directly to Fayetteville, Arkansas, and competes against CT No. 70 Razorbacks.
