A car manufacturer based in California has presented film material from its electric car, which carries out a “jump” over another vehicle on the street and describes it as a “first test of a car driving and the execution of a vertical start in an urban environment”.
The now viral video, which is similar to a scene from a science fiction film at first glance, shows the ALEF model zero version that makes flight. The electric vehicle slowly lifts off the ground and hovers over parked cars on the street.

Jim Dukhovny, CEO of the Aeronautics, compared the demonstration to the historic Kitty Hawk flight of the Wright Brothers and emphasized its importance. “This test drive and the flight mark a decisive technological breakthrough in a real urban environment. We hope that it will be a moment that proves humanity that new means of transport are possible,” he said.

The futuristic vehicle is based on a system that is referred to as a distributed electrical drive and which uses a network layer over its propeller leaves to optimize the air flow, as reports in the Daily Mail. It has four rotors in front and another four behind.

The vehicle currently has a maximum speed of only 25 miles per hour. Despite this restriction, the company has already received over 3,000 pre -orders and aims to sell each unit for 300,000 US dollars (approx. 2.6 billion rupees).

Social media reactions

While the video impressed some spectators, many remained skeptical, some even released it as CGI. “Why does it look like bad CGI?” A user interviewed. Another asked: “Why does it look like a terrible idea?”

Others suggested that the vehicle were essentially a disguised drone. “Isn't that just a big drone that looks like a car?” Asked another.

A user also expressed concerns about practicability in combating traffic jams. “How does” solve “the problem” about traffic? It could work for the person who makes the leap to escape traffic. “
