Terrier volleyball post 1: 1 record in the tri-match against Tomcats and Bulldogs

Despite the new conference this year, the Volleyball team of the Lords of Hiram Terriers announced its presidents at the President's sports conference by jumping to the top of the overall ranking. Although the terriers had suffered their first loss of conference when the PAC enemy Thiel College gave them 25-21, 28-30, 18-25, 18-25 Castle, they recovered with a victory against Adrian College in a 25-20, 25-17 Sweep at the Price Gymnasium a victory against Adrian College.

“You answered how I wanted it,” said coach Tyler North. “Obviously we would have liked to take both, but we knew that the Thiel game would be a fight and we knew that it would be difficult. The answer to Adrian was exactly what we had to go to the spring holidays. “

In his opening season in the PAC, Hiram (10: 6, 4: 1) found that his former conference rivalry with the Tomcats, when the teams belonged to the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate conference, still than ever before. Although the terriers defeated Thiel on the street this season, they were defeated at home for their first Pac loss of the season and brought them to second place.

After winning the first set with a lead of 25-21, the tables turned in when the Tomcats ball control and service game improved dramatically in the second half of the second set. Although the Terrier Thiel urged Matching Point three times, her bad service game prevented her from winning, and she finally lost to her pac.

The coach in the first year said that Thiel's competent service game continued to trigger his crime in the third and fourth period, which Hiram took out of his system. The terriers ended the match with 21 mistakes and only recorded one goal of 0.206.

“To be honest, that was in the film, they hadn't shown the ability to serve so hard. That was really the difference too late, ”he added. “They took over the servant and pass what our Mo was all year round, we checked this first contact really well and they didn't do that. That was the big thing too late. “

In addition to an effective service game, North said that the Tomcats also did a better job to lead their offensive through the Junior Middle Blocker Kaleb Proudfoot, which recorded 12 kills and three blocked shots.

In the second game, North said that Hiram enjoyed his strongest offensive game of the season and swept the bulldogs with a dynamic attack from the gym.

“It was the most efficient that we were all year round and remained balanced again and managed the risk,” he remarked. “Our biggest thing is, everyone wants to beat the ball as hard as possible and down as far as possible, but sometimes you just have to lose it a little.”

From the beginning of the second game, Hiram's ball control was precise, which led to a 25:20 win in the first set and continues to flow from there.

In his first season with Hiram, North said that he found that the greatest strength of the Terrier was her leading depth on the offensive. Seven seniors have returned from the AmmC winner from Ammc Banner and the team made available with a wealth of playmakers.

“All seven are mostly in rotation,” he said. “It depends on match-ups and things, but all seven got a good season for us this year, and five of them that rarely come off the pitch. All seven contributed and started games for us. “

Hiram's depth improved

“I can inherit a good squad and add two parts. The semester break not only brought us in good condition, but also in depth in good condition, ”North noted.

After a lackluster offensive performance against the Tomcats, Hiram replied in the second game by setting up a hit percentage of 0.348 and recording 40 kills while only eight mistakes were made.

“That was our big deal, not just our starting arms, but our next couple from the bank are very good,” said North. “If we are balanced, you cannot include a man. If you concentrate on one of our boys, the other three or four will kill them. “

After a home game against PAC competitor Saint Vincent College, the terriers will return after the spring holidays to face another home game against Pac Foe Chatham University on March 14th at 7 p.m.
