Texas softball remains unbeaten at home, south florida, Alabama A & M – The Daily Texaner sits enthroned

No. 2 Texas Softball swept his last two games of the Longhorn Invitational and defeated Südflorida 9-1 and Alabama A & M 8: 0 in five innings.

While the offensive of Texas slowly started yesterday, the Longhorns found their hit rhythm at the beginning in both games on Sunday.

At the end of the second against Südflorida, Texas took over a quick 2-0 lead after the graduate information Joley Mitchell had beaten a colorful one that was left behind at the pitcher of the bulls and the junior catcher Reese Atwood ran home. Immediately afterwards, the second infield katie Stewart slipped home after a miscarriage between the outer field and the catcher.

The bulls remained goalless in the first three innings against the second Pitcher Teagan Kavan. After an outstanding Saturday afternoon, Kavan had an uncharacteristic start on Sunday, which quickly went to South Florida's graduates, Alanah Rivera. Atwood noticed that something was switched off and called for a small conversation in the circle to put down the second year.

The spread of the tempo paid dividends when Kavan's strike ended the inning. After that, it was quite illuminated for the Star Pitcher to work around some defense errors and only allow one run and three goals while setting up four strikes.

The Longhorns continued to show their slaughter skills in the end of the third inner. Atwood, who had a quiet weekend, returned to the shape with a two-run home, her 40th career explosion, to extend the lead to 4: 0.

The bulls found only moments of the offensive swing in the tip of the fourth. After an inaccurate litter of Junior Utility Leughann Gode to Mitchell in the first basis, the senior outfield by South Florida, Allana Consolazio, run after several pop flying to the second basis and run home. The bases were loaded at one point, but Kavan kept their rest and hit a pot for ending the only inning in which the bulls scored.

Texas' hits continued to fifth on Südflorida and ran around five runs.

Sophomore Infieldder Victoria Hunter lashing a double in the left center and brought Goode home. The senior utility Mia Scott then moved to the right and allowed the redshirt -Junior -OutoField Ashton Maloney and Hunter. Atwood's Groundout introduced another course of the second outfield Kayden Henry, and Stewart accepted an RBI single to increase the lead to 9-1 and seal the victory.

The next game, just 20 minutes later, was another day in the office for the Longhorns. The Senior Pitcher Mac Morgan excluded the bulldogs, exhibited four strikes and only allowed one goal.

“(Morgan) has a kind of bulldog mentality,” said Kavan. “She is very competitive and I think I see that from her. … she goes, it will come in quickly and hard. “

The Texas offensive went right at the end of the first and opened three runs. Scott met a single to the right and allowed Maloney to score a goal. Atwood immediately beat her second Homer of the day with two runs.

At the end of the second year, Texas used serious mistakes from the defense of the Bulldog. Maloney's colorful single and a shaky throw from outfield to the catcher allowed her to reach third place. Alabama A&M's exactly the same mistake in the next game made it possible to score a goal and reach Henry in second place. Scott then met an RBI in which Henry scored a run to extend the lead through two runs.

After a goalless third inning, Texas met another run in the fourth when Henry met second place and later met Scott's pop fly. The Longhorns added two more in the fifth when Maloney's double of Junior Utility Kaydee Bennett drove and sealed the 8-0 win.

“Why is Maloney) not a all-American?” Head coach Mike White. “She plays really well in the outer field. So I am looking for you to have this breakthrough season (and) really get the awareness that you really deserve. ”

The Longhorns improve to 20: 1 when they go on the last route of the non-conference season and return to Red & Charline McCombs Field on Wednesday to take over the old Baylor conference opponent.
